This journal contains important information regarding the
universe of The Wedge.
Before you post a character it's a good idea to check this.

The Worlds
The universe of The Wedge is divided into three worlds.

Matheria - The world of mortals. The world where humans, animals,
anthros and such living beings live. It can be compared to a
"world between".

Inferno - A world of darkness, of fear, of death. All devils are
born from this world. Long ago, a stronger devil ruled over this
world. But now there is absolutely no order in this world. No
one reigns over it. This world is just as big as Matheria.

Ciel - The world above all worlds. Altought the only beings that
stepped into this world were angels, it is often refered as a
"paradise", a "promised land free from all evil". The only
informations regarding this world are mere myths and rumors.
However it is known that it is the world the angels come from.


[Matheria]The Nations
NOTE: This is a part you're free to skip. It doesn't really matter if you skip it. You can read it later. It's a brief info on what are the nations and the cities/towns, so you don't end up thinking you will find air ships in Sunset Vale and whatsoever.

AERIA
Capital: Aeria
Known as the world potency. It has the most advanced technology, which includes weapons, architecture, entertainment (TV) and vehicules.
The city of Aeria is where the core of Aeon Co. is located.
[Closest nation to our 'nowadays' age. But there are no cars, planes or space ships.]

CROZVERA
Capital: Sunset Vale
Located in the south border of the same continent as Aeria.
Mountains form a wall in the north of Sunset Vale, while on the south is the sea shore.
Crozvera has political and economical ties to Aeria.
[Not 'modern' looking like Aeria is. Sunset Vale is closer to the our old
age of the 18th century. In therms of weaponry, it's almost like Aeria.]




The Races
There are races that can be chosen when creating or posting
your character. Races cannot be created, so you must either
make a character or adapt yours to the race that suits it best.

Humans - If you don't know what a human is, you should kill
yourself. The humans in The Wedge are just like commom humans.
Except some of them are "gifted" somehow.
For instance, the most famous and important demonologists are
humans. It was the humans who have discovered ways to slay
and study demons. And the most powerful organizations and
companies targeted to defend Matheria from demons are monitored
by humans.

Anthros - Their origin is not clear. But now they live among
humans. It was thanks to the attacks and surge of demons that
the constant conflicts between humans and anthros ceased.
The anthros are "evolved animals", that is, animals with
physical resemblance to humans, such as the shape of their
torso, legs and arms. They also speak and dress like humans.
Their animal characteristics are still predominant over the
human ones. And many of them believe to be superior to humans,
since they exceed them in strenght and agility, just like
commom animals do. That isn't far from the truth,
since most of the youngest demon-hunters are anthros.

DEMONS - Demons are divided between Devils and Angels.
It could be said devils represent darkness, and angels
represent light. But that can't be mistaken for evil and good.

Devils - Beings born from the depths of darkness. Not all of
them are evil, but in general devils have the instict of
destruction, and prey upon other devils or living-beings.
Matheria has a great influence over many devils, causing them
to change their natural behavior. Which results in devils
ceasing to prey upon other beings, or even befriending mortals.
That is why devils are sub-divided into ranks and alignment.
However, that influence rarely affects devils that grew in
Inferno.
Devils often leave Inferno for varied reasons. Most devils
cannot leave Inferno by their own will. Generally a devil must
be summoned by a mortal or another devil to leave Inferno.
-Devils can be good, evil, or neutral. And they can be low ranked,
being weak and completely irrational, mid ranked, being strong
and dangerous. Lastly, high ranked, devils with unimaginable
powers and extremely dangerous if they mean evil.

Angels - Not much is known about the Angels. Their main goal
seems to be the termination of any devil that is found on
Matheria. They are also divided into ranks, angels, archangels
and fallen angels. The angels have no emotions, and they act
and behave like machines. Just like devils their appearance
varies a lot. But all angels have halos. Archangels rarely
descend to Matheria. However, they disguise themselves with
an appearance that resembles a human, when near one. When
no human is near, they present the appearance that resembles
a dragon. All archangels have wings, and it is believed thought
they are very few in number, the power of one exceeds of a high
ranked devil. Fallen angels are angels without halos. They
are angels who have been cast away, abandoned, and so trapped
in Matheria. If they don't become 'irrational monsters', they
take the form of the nearest being. Their powers remains the
same, but their memories of Ciel are lost.
A fallen angel cannot become an angel again.


Story
The Wedge universe is basically fantasy. Advanced technology
exists, but there are no such things as cars around. Most of
it should present resemblance to the traditional medieval
theme or further to something that should resemble the age of
the 'Illuminism'.


With the discovery of dark beings, now known as devils, the
humanity created groups and means of defending themselves
from those beings. The devil-hunters became commom between the
nations, from business to givernamental protection.
Just as devil-hunters multiplied around the world, so did the
devil summoners and necromancers.
It is not only fear that the devils brought to the world.
The curiosity caused many demonologists to study the devils
and their behavior.
More than a war between mortals and demons, few are the mortals
who know the true secrets that link the demons to the world.
They use it as an advantage, to manipulate the other mortals
towards a bigger goal. A goal that goes beyond simple
protection.
A war is about to begin. And it will result in a tragic end
for all worlds, or perhaps just a transformation.
To stop or to conquer it, is on the hands of the ones who
aknowledge the secrets, or in the hands of those who are
mistaken for the cause of it.
Are angels really the guardians who defend the mortals against
the evil?
Are all devils evil beings meant to be feared?
Not many mortals seem to wonder.

Mortals are afraid of changes.
